Store News and After Holiday Sleepy

This shirt is called “You’re Just a Pervert.”

I moved some things around at the Write Snark and all the Hey Santa designs went on special.

Cafe Press is offering free shipping on orders over 75 bucks through Sunday, so if you feel the need to holiday shop for those writer friends in your life, keep the Snark in mind. <g>

A couple of other new designs…

Called “Make It Go Away.”

Called “Character Anger Management.”

Thanksgiving went well.  I ended up cooking enough food for the twenty who came–even though I knew they were all bringing food.  What can I say?  I love having all the different items for us all.

Our turkey turned out incredible.  It always freaks people out at first because the cheesecloth I wrap it in turns black during the long cooking process.  Peel that sucker off and the bird beneath is done perfectly.  This is simply the best recipe for turkey… and I’ve tried a lot of them.

Took a while to clean last night and this morning, but the house is all freshly mopped and ready to go, so I’m spending today working on some critiques.  😉

I’ve been having a hard time not getting discouraged on my own writing front.  Working too much and the long wait from agents can get a little frustrating.  I don’t blame them–they are obviously incredibly busy people–I just really look forward to the day I hear a request on my full.

Who knows?  Maybe my ultimate Christmas wish will come true and I’ll actually sign with someone.

Hmm… I feel another Hey Santa design coming on…

About Rinda Elliott

Writer.I love unusual stories and credit growing up in a family of curious life-lovers who moved all over the country. Books and movies full of fantasy, science fiction and romance kept us amused, especially in some of the stranger places. For years, I tried to separate my darker side with my humorous and romantic one. I published short fiction, but things really started happening when I gave in and mixed it up. When not lost in fiction, I love making wine, collecting music, gaming and spending time with my husband and two children. I’m represented by Miriam Kriss of the Irene Goodman Agency.

Your turkey recipe sounds awesome. Mmmmmm. Good luck with the agents. Hang in there. It’ll happen.

Oh, I should have posted. It’s two bottles of merlot (even the cheaper stuff works well here) and uh… eight sticks of butter. I melt 4 sticks of butter with the merlot on the stove, soak the cheesecloth in the mixture, then wrap it around the turkey. I baste with the remaining butter/wine mix. I end up melting another four sticks and another bottle of wine about two hours later and baste again. I also pour some in the bottom of the roaster. Add water to the roasting pan when it starts to smoke a bit. I baste every twenty minutes.

The cheesecloth turns black and will smoke occasionally. But I’ve done this six times now and every single time, the turkey came out extremely juicy and tender with a great flavor. 🙂

LOL. I like the writing shirts. I’m seriously thinking about starting up my shop again. I had one thru them, but closed it down. So when you create your shirts, like the ones above, do you save them as a jpeg and then upload’em? I also had a shop thru Zazzle and wasn’t too thrilled, so pointers for Cafepress would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and I’ll keep your fingers crossed about the agent thing as long as you do the same for me.

I create them as jpgs or sometimes pngs.

Honestly, I think about closing the store a lot. The base prices are so high, I can barely mark stuff up, so I don’t make much at all. This year, I think I might have paid out more for the site, than I earned. heh heh

It’s more a labor of love, I think. I have fun creating them.

  5. You will get that request! Keeping my fingers crossed for you that it happens before Christmas. 🙂

In the meantime, I would love to read DOTT…. I’m just sayin’. 😉
