My Support System Rocks!

I must focus on the pay-job today, so I’ll be putting in extra hours on that one.

I’m also digging into the writing this evening and doing my best not to jump into it this morning as I did yesterday morning… <g>  Once I crawl into a story, I have to be physically ripped out of it.

Seriously.  There’s blood and everything.

I’m sure I’ll be on the phone with Rachel Vincent again.  We both have a lot of exciting stuff happening at the same time.  (Rogue is out–look to the left!)

But last night, opening my mail made me cry.  The good kind of cry.

Gena sent a package.  I knew she was sending a couple of books to my daughter who ran out and snatched them from my hands, then danced around the mailbox.  (Our neighbors are afraid of us.)

But I didn’t expect the one for me.

Inside the book, she’d written a wonderful, personal message that touched me at the exact right moment.

Thanks Gena. 🙂

The book?  Oh, the buzz on this book!!  The whole series, in fact.  I know I’m looking forward to them.  This gorgeous back is also on the cover of Romantic Times this month–which I also got in the mail last night.  It didn’t make me cry, tho. 😉

gena.jpg The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter.

An immortal warrior cursed to die every night, only to awaken the next morning knowing he has to die again.  A mortal woman with a power beyond imagining…

All her life, Ashlyn Darrow has been tormented by voices from the past. To end the nightmare, she has come to Budapest seeking help from men rumored to have supernatural abilities, not knowing she’ll be swept into the arms of Maddox, their most dangerous member – a man trapped in a hell of his own.

Neither can resist the instant hunger that calms their torments. . .and ignites an irresistible passion.  But every heated touch and burning kiss will edge them closer to destruction—and a soul-shattering test of love…

Music Today:

I’ll be listening to Thirty Seconds to Mars.  Intense crushing will ensue.  Have as much fun watching them as I do listening! (In fact, Mr. Leto is a focal for the hero in one of my books. And yeah, I like him with the make-up.  😉  )

About Rinda Elliott

Writer.I love unusual stories and credit growing up in a family of curious life-lovers who moved all over the country. Books and movies full of fantasy, science fiction and romance kept us amused, especially in some of the stranger places. For years, I tried to separate my darker side with my humorous and romantic one. I published short fiction, but things really started happening when I gave in and mixed it up. When not lost in fiction, I love making wine, collecting music, gaming and spending time with my husband and two children. I’m represented by Miriam Kriss of the Irene Goodman Agency.

You’re increasing my TBR, you know that???? 😉

  2. relliott4 says:

Just wait–that CD pile will start growing too.

  3. I like this Mr. Leto. Very nice, indeed. Which hero and which book are you talking about?

  4. relliott4 says:

It’s a new YA urban fantasy I’ve been outlining. 😉

  5. *sigh* Jarod Leto is so yummy in all of his forms. I have the entire series of My So Called Life, love him in makeup and will buy any YA with him as an inspiration. My crush on him is almost as big as the one I have for Edward Cullen (who might have also been inspired by Jared Leto–but we may never know for sure…)

  6. Michele says:

HOLY CRAP! Isn’t he just the prettiest thing… I do believe I need him at my house. Just to sit on my couch and look good in all his yummy goodness.

    Dang… I seriously need a boyfriend 😦

I like 30 Seconds to Mars and Jared Leto, too! I have both albums, although the second one is definitely a lot better. I got a chance to meet him when he was promoting the first CD and yes, his eyes really are that blue and round in person. I didn’t think it was possible for someone’s eyes to be a perfect O shape.

I’ll be diving in to revisions on Sunday. I got the report back from my editor and nearly had a heart attack at one of the suggestions she’d made. It traumatized me so much I had to blog about it.

  8. I love new music. I have been on a huge indie kick lately but am always looking for new stuff. I am definitely going to look into Gena’s work tho.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

Brooke, I was talking with three seventeen year-old girls last night and they all sighed over Edward Cullen. These girls are serious Meyers fans.

I’ve never watched My So Called Life, but I kept replaying the video because he looked familiar. That a ha came with the memory of Urban legend.

    Michele, he is, isn’t he?

Celise, I need to trot over and see what your editor suggested. Wait, your editor???? I missed something!

lisa, I’m a huge Indie fanatic. I have more CDs from indie bands than anything else. If you ever have time, scroll through the music posts. I’ve covered the harder stuff to favorite female vox.
