Important Meme

I will soon be making an announcement about my involvement in something seriously cool with eight other FANTASTIC writers.  One of them, Lilith Saintcrow, posted this meme today, so I’m breaking my “until Thursday” promise for it.  From her blog:

“A meme worth, well, memeing.

Copy this sentence into your livejournal if you’re in a heterosexual marriage/relationship (or if you think you might be someday), and you don’t want it “protected” by the bigots who think that gay marriage hurts it somehow.

I don’t care who you sleep with, as long as both parties are over 18 and consenting. Love is love.”

100% agreement here.  Yes, I’m in a heterosexual marriage–but I fell in love early and am still wildly in love with my best friend.  But love is love–no one, NO ONE, has the right to tell someone else who to love or how to express it.  This whole “pro gay marriage=against traditional marriage” is the biggest load of BS.  My biggest hope is that someday, we live in a world free of bigotry.  So, this will be going here and in my LJ Blog.

About Rinda Elliott

Writer.I love unusual stories and credit growing up in a family of curious life-lovers who moved all over the country. Books and movies full of fantasy, science fiction and romance kept us amused, especially in some of the stranger places. For years, I tried to separate my darker side with my humorous and romantic one. I published short fiction, but things really started happening when I gave in and mixed it up. When not lost in fiction, I love making wine, collecting music, gaming and spending time with my husband and two children. I’m represented by Miriam Kriss of the Irene Goodman Agency.

Agreed! I saw somebody with one of those pro traditional marriage bumper stickers the other day and it was all I could do not to smash into their Lexus SUV with my shitty little Escort. Grrr!

  2. Here, here. There’s too much hatred running around anyway. Why vilify two people who actually love each other. I was married for 39 years and loved my husband. One of my children is in a same sex partnership and they love each other. Love is love and far above hate any day. It’s like when DHS takes a child away because of a same sex relationship in the home but leaves them in an abusive home with a heterosexual relationship. Can we say Duh?

ah… Rinda. i love being introduced to writers and new books. thanks for sharing 🙂

    LOVE the statement! its perfect.

  4. I agree. Love is important, no matter what a person’s gender. People need to quit trying to rule other people’s lives and look to making their own better. Then the world will be a better place. 🙂
