Summer Camp

I signed up to participate in Kaz’s Writing Summer Camp. My goal is a complete first draft of the adult UF by the end of summer and have a solid working outline and three chapters on the YA. I may add a short story in there as well. I miss the faster turn around of my short story selling days. <g>

So far, I’m not as far as I’d like, but I’m also still heavily in the research and working outline phase.  I’m only up to 4k on my adult UF and about 8k on the YA.  Writing in summer can be challenging with the kiddos around so much. My son is happy to play video games all day and leave me to write, but I don’t feel that’s too healthy for him, so I make sure we spend time doing other things together–or that he spends more time out with friends.  But I should be able to swing my 3k a day as soon as the story gels entirely. It’s getting close. 🙂

About Rinda Elliott

Writer.I love unusual stories and credit growing up in a family of curious life-lovers who moved all over the country. Books and movies full of fantasy, science fiction and romance kept us amused, especially in some of the stranger places. For years, I tried to separate my darker side with my humorous and romantic one. I published short fiction, but things really started happening when I gave in and mixed it up. When not lost in fiction, I love making wine, collecting music, gaming and spending time with my husband and two children. I’m represented by Miriam Kriss of the Irene Goodman Agency.

  1. What’s Kaz’s summer camp? I want to finishe “Agatha Ann and the Shadow Curse” so I have two books done in the series. Then, if KA doesn’t bite, I’ll start the editor/agen query marathon while I finish “Dead Fairies” yet another Fairy Book.

My friend Karen Mahoney set up a Summer check in program. The sign up was last week, I believe. It’s not like other writing things where you have a specific goal. This is a breezy, here’s what I’d like to do and then check in with others once a week. 🙂
