And Now For Something(s) Completely Different

My daughter’s boyfriend introduced us to Kamelot.  This is called Ghost Opera.  Pretty interesting.  It’s a kind of epic rock opera for those who don’t feel like listening to the whole thing. 🙂

Though the style is somewhat different, I was yanked back into Queensryche Fangirl Land. (Possibly the voice?  Maybe?)

Okay… am I the only one here who ever spent time in Queensryche Fangirl Land????

This isn’t the Queensryche song Kamelot sent me back to, but it’s a great live version of a song most will recognize from the MTV Awards 1991.

Man, I had the hots for Geoff Tate and his leather pant-clad bod…

Come on, some of you had to love Silent Lucidity.

In my travels today, I found that Geoff Tate made a solo album, so I’m off to explore.

In other new finds, Kelli sent me a link to Black Lab and I simply fell in love with This Night.

I bought the CD off Itunes and there are several good songs, including Weightless.

Then, this week, I also received a postcard from a musician in Virginia I’ve been following.  Jessica L. Fenton writes the music for and plays every instrument in her songs.  Sings, too.

(Couldn’t find a video of her performing–just one where she gets tasered on her Myspace page. <g>)

About Rinda Elliott

Writer.I love unusual stories and credit growing up in a family of curious life-lovers who moved all over the country. Books and movies full of fantasy, science fiction and romance kept us amused, especially in some of the stranger places. For years, I tried to separate my darker side with my humorous and romantic one. I published short fiction, but things really started happening when I gave in and mixed it up. When not lost in fiction, I love making wine, collecting music, gaming and spending time with my husband and two children. I’m represented by Miriam Kriss of the Irene Goodman Agency.

  1. “Okay… am I the only one here who ever spent time in Queensryche Fangirl Land????”

Um, yeah. But that was when I was 420 friendly , so I don’t remember it much.

  2. Two words

    Operation: Mindcrime

  3. “Um, yeah.”

    That was sarcasm. 😉

“Um yeah” made me think you were saying I WAS the only one. LOLOLOL!!!

I’m going to eventually do a post on concept albums like Operation Mindcrime and Pink World. Oh man, must go find my Tony Carey PInk World CD…

Told you I was on the slow side tonight. 😉 I was thinking sarcasm, but in the opposite there. Like “Um yeah, you freak. Queensryche? After posting about Over the Rhine? What are you weird?”
    Snort.

  6. You are weird, but I don’t mind.

  7. relliott4 says:

Okay… have you ever heard of Planet P Project????? Almost everyone knows Why Me… but Pink World was an entire story album and seriously good.

  8. relliott4 says:

Did you know if you type Pink World into Google, you get porn? The hubby doesn’t understand why I’m surprised about that.

  9. None of the above sound familiar. And Pink World is not on iTunes, so I can’t even refresh my memory.

I hate when I google something innocent that turns up porn WHEN MY KIDS ARE IN THE FREAKING ROOM! Argh.

Planet P had hits in the eighties–one being “Why Me.” You’d recognize it if you heard it. Could hear a clip at Amazon.

Pink World was simply fantastic. A concept album that told the story of the end of the world and a small boy with powers who saves everyone. Tony Carey wrote it and I believe played nearly every intstrument on that CD.

My husband and I bought it on a whim and slipped it in while driving one night. We drove until we listened to the entire thing twice. Ended up eating breakfast out. We later lost it. The year I paid big money for an imported replacement was a good one for us. 🙂

Wow, I looked up Pink World on Amazon and you can’t hear any clips. It came out before I thought. I certainly wasn’t married in 1984. We bought it years after it was released and if you read the reviews, it struck people the same way it did us.
